CHURCH HISTORY
The Baptist Tabernacle was founded in 1967 by Rev. Earl Gray at a store
front in Germantown, Ohio. Shortly thereafter the church moved to its present location of 7816 DuBois Road in Carlisle,
Ohio. In 1992, a large addition was added to accommodate the growing congregation. Upon Bro. Earl’s retirement,
his son, Rev. Michael Gray, became the pastor.
The Baptist Tabernacle stands firm on being a Fundamental, Independent, Soul Winning, Bible Believing, Bible Teaching and
Baptist Church. A strong missionary program is also a very important aspect of our church.
In 2008, eight acres in the heart of Carlisle were purchased and plans have been put in place to construct a larger
facility to minister to the growing congregation and to serve the local community.
PASTOR, MICHAEL GRAY
A lifelong resident of Carlisle, Ohio, Rev. Michael Gray attended Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, Texas,
graduating in 1978. At that time he came on staff at The Baptist Tabernacle as the youth director, serving under his father
and founding pastor, Rev. Earl Gray. Upon Bro. Earl’s retirement in 1981, Bro. Mike was named as pastor.
He has served the Lord faithfully in Carlisle, leading the church through a major building program and watching it grow
in attendance and ministries. In addition, he currently serves on the board of his alma mater, Arlington Baptist College.
Pastor Gray and his wife, Rhonda, are the parents of two adult children, Lesli and Adam.
